Simone Lingua

Cuneo, 1981

Simone Lingua joined the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence. The beginning of his artistic career is to be found in his paintings. In 2010 Simone started his Kinetic art studies while working with the Roberto Baciocchi architecture studio. An extremely significant and long period for the artist’s training, during which he was able to apply his kinetic concept to the Prada Facades in Las Vegas, Shanghai, and Sydney.

Simone’s career took a shift when he started his art exhibitions in Italy and around the world.

Between 2016 and 2018 he exhibited in institutional and private spaces including Pan – Palazzo delle Arti Napoli, Musée du Louvre (Paris), Castello Estense (Ferrara), Palazzo Bentivoglio Gualtieri (Reggio Emilia), Galleria Accorsi (Turin), Villa Mazzucchelli Museum (Brescia), Bratislava Castle, De Nittis Foundation (Barletta), Sarzana Castle, Mirabilia Gallery (Reggio Emilia), Idearte Gallery (Ferrara), Dôme – Elephant Paname (Paris), Sorrento Foundation and Galleria TAG (Lugano).

His work received the Award for Best Conceptual Artwork at Palazzo Gagliardi (Vibo Valentia, 2016).

In 2018, he signed the project Ninfea, a temporary and site-specific installation conceived for the Natural thermal pool in Piazza delle Sorgenti in the town of Bagno Vignoni in Tuscany. The Bagno Vignoni project started a new era in Lingua’s creative path, focusing his attention on a heterogeneity of materials and techniques, with forays into the field of design. An area which crosses its entire process, as already expressed in the design and prototyping of the first example of a Murano glass acoustic box (2016).

In 2018, Simone embarked in a journey of experimenting a new art philosophy which resulted in the creation of his art concept Contemporary Illusions. A concept that brings together art, nature and architecture through mirrored surfaces, applied to historical monuments in large-scale art installations. To date, these studies involve several Italian cities with site-specific projects in Rome, Florence, Palermo, Pisa and Gaeta.

In 2019, Simone progressed in his kinetic art exploration, and this is when Klinve – Kinetic Jewels was born. Klinve is an exclusive jewelry brand that transforms Simone’s multiple kinetic sculptures into wearable jewelery.

In 2020, Simone exhibited a solo show at the church Santa Maria della Spina in Pisa, presenting for the occasion a selection of works of kinetic art, including the special project part of Contemporary Illusions.

In 2021 Simone signed the collaboration with Bvlgari for Expo 2020 Dubai (October 1, 2021 – March 31, 2022), conceiving Sotiria, a kinetic and site-specific installation of 150 square meters, intended for the central section of the Italian Pavilion in Expo 2020 and inspired by the theme “Beauty Connects People”.

Among his most recent works are: Sfera 9.0 and Sfera 7.0, site-specific sculpture-installations for fountains (Gaeta, February 2022); Nuance, a large-scale temporary installation and first application of the Contemporary Illusions concept to the field of industrial archeology, in particular to the chimney of the Ex AVIR, an early 20th century industrial complex (Gaeta, July 2022); Shadows of light, a temporary and site-specific installation created at La Lanterna di Fuksas and promoted by Domus Art Gallery Athens (Rome, November 2022); Connections, site specific project at Palazzo Drago Airoldi (Palermo, june-july 2023)

Since 2017, her work has been curated by Tiziana Tommei, art historian and curator.

Simone lives in Tuscany since 1998, a place he calls home since his academic years in Florence. However, he is anything but sedentary and his creative vision takes shape from his incessant dynamism: an authentic forma mentis from which his art originates.
